In October 2024, the British Council Lithuania, the Polish Institute, and Vytautas Magnus University hosted a two-day international conference "Empowering Education: Understanding Teachers' Needs in Multicultural Classrooms", addressing the challenges faced by Lithuanian schools in integrating students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
During the conference, the focus groups, consisting of local and international experts developed a set of recommendations aimed at fostering a more inclusive, diverse, and accessible education system. These proposals will be submitted to the newly formed Government of Lithuania and the Ministry of Education, Science, and Sport to support policy changes in this direction.
During the conference, the training session was held for teachers and educators. Led by Chris Sowton, an education expert from the UK, participants had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of multiculturalism and strengthen their skills in working with linguistically and culturally diverse student groups.
